Friday’s Nonsense
It’s official: “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will end in 2011. Yesterday, Harpo . . . Oprah’s production company . . . released a statement confirming that Oprah has decided not to re-up her show’s syndication deal when it expires in 2011. She’ll officially announce it on today’s show. The last episode will air on September 9th, 2011, 25 years after she started. Who will tell me what books I like? How will I know what Oprah’s favorite things are? By ending in 2011, she’ll be setting herself up nicely to become president in 2012.
When Amy Winehouse was hospitalized earlier this week, we heard it was because she had a bad reaction to cold medicine. Well, that wasn’t the real reason. It turns out one of Amy’s new boobs had sprung a leak. Her dad says, quote, “It wasn’t because she had a cold. She’s fine, she just had a little leaky something or other.” A “friend” adds, quote, “She saw something oozing out onto her top. She was worried as they looked wonky, and to see stuff seeping out was horrible.”
Rihanna denies she’s dating “90210” and “The Wire” star Tristan Wilds. In a radio interview yesterday, she admitted that he did show up at her house party last weekend. But she added, quote, “I don’t even have his number.” She also admitted that she misses certain things about Chris Brown. . . and when his music comes on the radio, she doesn’t automatically turn it off.
Not that this will make the slightest difference to you if you’re a fan, but critics are not being kind to “New Moon“. It’s been panned by Roger Ebert, the “Boston Globe“, the “L.A. Times“, “Variety” and “USA Today“, just to name a few. The general consensus seems to be that it’s too mopey and boring. It gets a 27% from Rotten Tomatoes.
Oh, and we have this fun “New Moon” fact: Taylor Lautner is shirtless for 12 minutes of the film.
“Out” magazine claims Adam Lambert’s people asked them not to go overboard on the gay angle just before they were about to interview him. But now, Adam says that he told his people to give that order to the magazine. He says, quote, “It was my desire to stay away from talking about certain political and civil rights issues because I’m not a politician. I’m an entertainer.”
